Just another Thursday!

DAY 11

You have heard us make mention of the amount of food that he eats so we decided to take a picture of it. They did not fill it up as much today as they did yesterday but it is still a lot of food. Sean always seems to scarf it all down. We decided that he is going to be a tall boy because he has long skinny feet and long thin hands. Good characteristics of an athlete of some sort.
Sean was standing on his Papa’s belly for a good 20 minutes today. That is the longest amount of time that he has ever stood up for. Papa makes it a really fun game for him though. He absolutely adores his Papa. We have already established our roles in his life. Papa is the fun, silly guy, that he loves to play with and Mama is the nurturer that makes all of his problems just seem to disappear.
Mama did find a new fun game to play with Sean. It’s called hide and go seek. All Mama has to do is to put her head in back of him, make him look for her, and than she brings her head in front of him and he just lets out lots of giggles. Sean was crawling really well today. We stimulate him to crawl by showing him the pacifier, and then placing it on the floor away from him. It works every time. We are so surprised at how much improvement that we have seen in him, in the little amount of time that we have spent with him.
The president of Kazakhstan is coming to Karaganda tomorrow. It is really exciting for everyone. They have been cleaning up, trying to make things look nice for him. They have really been working hard. We were amazed about the police presence that they have on the streets. They must have called in reinforcements from other regions because we can’t imagine Karaganda having that many police officers. Comparing it to a typical Chicago city block, they would have approximately 8 police officers. We think that it was staffed like this only downtown because there was not nearly as many by where we are staying. Maybe only two officers per block.
