Form one extreme to another.
Sorry no pictures today. We are not getting a very good internet connection.
How do we love our hot tub and bed let us count the ways. We really don’t lead a pampered life but boy do you feel like your home accessories make you a KING. The bed that we are sleeping on is hard as a rock. We were trying to figure out why it was so uncomfortable and then we noticed that it wasn’t a mattress at all. It is a box spring. Our backs and bodies are so soar. Jay made a funny today about the bed. Our coordinator in Almaty came by today to do some paperwork for the Embassy. He told us if we had any questions that we should call him. So Jay being the funny guy that he is said that we should have asked him the following: If our apartment costs $80 a night then can we pay $90 a night for the mattress back. We really are having so much fun.
We went to the doctor’s appointment today and had Sean checked out. It is also now mandatory to have an HIV test taken. All of the children have already had the test taken but because there were a few cases where the children contracted the virus in one of the Baby Houses, they established a law. They pricked Sean’s finger and squeezed the blood into a tiny little tube and he didn’t cry at all. Then they checked his height and weight and he started crying. What a silly little boy.
Due to the graphic nature of this paragraph we strongly advise all readers with a weak stomach to skip to the next paragraph. You have been warned. As I am typing this I am laughing hysterically because of our conversation. Sean was constipated because of the change in diet. So we have been giving him some apple juice. He finally was able to go but it was really solid. As Deb was changing his diaper she had to to quick yell to Jay, “He is still going I need another diaper”. It was too funny. Then just a few minutes ago Jay was asking for a clothes pin. He did it again but this time it was to the other extreme. I guess the apple juice worked. I think tomorrow we will only give him one 4oz. bottle instead of two. I warned you that it might get a little graphic.
Sean has a bit of a cold. His nose has been running and he has been coughing. Even though he is not feeling good he still is in good spirits. He was giggling much more today and is starting to get the hang of things.
We will be done with everything here in Almaty on Wednesday. We are making a phone call tonight to our travel agent to see if we can get a flight out on Thursday or Friday. We can’t wait to get home although we are enjoying our time in Almaty. It is a really pretty city and it is surrounded by mountains. We are hoping to take a drive up there before we leave. We didn’t take a whole lot of pictures today but do have a few from the shopping mall. The mall is really pretty and my favorite thing about it is that they have an ice rink right in the middle. We went there for dinner tonight and sat and watched all of the children practicing. They are really talented. They can do spins and jumps. We also have a picture of Jay and Sean on the Kazakh version of an escalator.
We hope everyone is well at home and we cant wait to get home. See you soon.
